Personnel Screening Policy

Personnel screening involves analyzing the background of company applicants to ensure that they are a creditable fit for the role in which they intend to work. The process may entail analysis of criminal records, credit history, employment/academic verifications, job skills and other criteria.

This policy from TechRepublic Premium provides a framework for building a screening policy that fits the needs of your organization.

From the policy:

PERSONNEL SCREENING GUIDELINES

Formal offers of employment are contingent on the candidate’s successful completion of background checks as defined in this policy. Candidates who have accepted offers of employment and contingent workers are subject to the following background reviews, as applicable or permitted by law:

• Identity verification (valid driver’s license, passport, Social Security card, etc.).

• Alias check (to screen for aliases used by individuals who have changed their name).

• Social Security Number trace.
