Business analysts are employed in a wide variety of industries, such as banking, IT, telecommunications and marketing. They are responsible for a host of tasks, depending on the company’s requirements. For example, they may identify and manage project risk or gauge customer needs and suggest technological fixes. In general, they will be working with IT professionals much of the time and should have up-to-date and practical technical expertise, at least at some level.
Salaries vary widely, depending on the size of the company and the expertise of the employee. Pay for this position tends to range from $64,000 to $94,000, with Glassdoor reporting an overall spread of $53,000 to $116,000.
